The Trine University men's soccer team suffered a 1-0 defeat against Albion (Mich.) College in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opener at Weaver Field in Angola, Ind.
After the two teams battled to a scoreless tie, 0-0, after the first half of play, Albion (6-4-1, 1-0 MIAA) scored what turned out to be the only goal of the game at the 69:27 minute mark. Trine (4-5, 0-1 MIAA) mustered a pair of shots following the Briton score, but neither found its mark as Albion came away with the one-goal victory.
Freshman Austin Hensley (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville) saw his first playing time of the season and played the entire 45 minutes while tallying a pair of saves.
Trine will play its next game on the road against Calvin (Mich.) College on Saturday, Oct. 12 in a MIAA game in Grand Rapids, Mich. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
