CENTREVILLE – Authorities have released the name of the man who was killed in a collision between a pick up and a motorcycle.

St. Joseph County Sheriff Mark Lillywhite says the victim's name is Florin Gavril Olarean. On Tuesday afternoon, the St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department was called to Lutz Road near Dickinson Road. They say a 17 year old Burr Oak boy was driving south on Lutz Road and attempted to make a turn at Dickinson Road. Olarean was following the pick up on his motorcycle. Investigators say the pick up driver changed the direction he was turning and Olarean collided with the truck.

Olarean was thrown off of his bike, which went off the road and struck a power pole. He suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Olarean was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The pick up driver was not injured, but a passenger suffered a minor injury. Following the completion of the investigation, the case will be sent to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
