Branch County Sees Unemployment Go Up a Tenth

EAST LANSING, MI - Branch County’s unemployment rate in June went up by a tenth of a percent to 5.1 percent according to data released on Thursday by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget.

Branch County had the 21st lowest unemployment rate among the 83 Michigan counties.

St. Joseph County’s jobless rate went down from May to 5.5 percent, Hillsdale County went up to 5.7 percent, while Calhoun County stayed at 6.8 percent.

The state says non seasonally adjusted jobless rates were largely unchanged in most of Michigan’s 17 labor market areas during June.
