Northeast Indiana Unemployment Rates Go Down In August

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Jobless rates went down slightly across Northeast Indiana from July to August.

Information released by the Indiana Department Of Workforce Development shows that LaGrange County's unemployment rate stayed at 2.5 percent from July to August. LaGrange County is tied with Hamilton County for the second lowest unemployment rate in the State.

The largest drop in unemployment in the area was in DeKalb County, which went from 3.4 percent to 3.1 percent. That's a decrease of three-tenths of a percent.

Steuben County and Elkhart County each saw their unemployment rates drop one-tenth of a percent. Both counties went from 2.9 unemployment to 2.8 percent.

Noble County saw a drop in their jobless rate from 3.8 to 3.7 percent. That's a decrease of one-tenth of a percent.

Statewide, the jobless rate for Indiana was unchanged from July to August, staying at 4.1 percent.
