ANGOLA – Twenty middle school and high school students from multiple Steuben County schools hosted a luncheon for local superintendents, principals, sponsors, teachers and Student County Community Foundation Board members.
The students are all members of the youth-led philanthropic group Forever Improving Steuben County Together also known as FIST.
The FIST students united from Fremont Community Schools, Metropolitan School District of Steuben County and Hamilton Community Schools to share their community and volunteer projects, grant making initiatives and future plans with special guests such as Steuben County Community Foundation President and CEO, Jennifer Danic.
FIST has been active since 1996 and have been vital volunteers for local events such as Cops for Kids, Balloons Aloft, and the Trick or Treat for Canned Goods drive, a FIST signature project.
The next venture for the FIST students is to host an event connecting the youth and the elderly populations. The group is looking for partnerships and support to kickstart the initiative,” stated the Steuben County Community Foundation.
