AUBURN - The DeKalb County Airport celebrated the extension of their runway with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, September 29.

The now 7,100-foot runway closed earlier in July of 2023 for construction where they added 2,105 feet to their former 5,000 foot runway.

Officials with the DeKalb County Airport currently under management by Sweet Aviation said the extension allows all aircraft in the general aviation corporate fleet to fly into the airport.

The project also added new runway and taxiway lights, as well as new paint and signage.

Sweet Aviation took over management of the airport in November 2022.

The company continued supplying pilots, including air ambulance teams with Parkview Samaritan, with fuel throughout the airport’s summer runway closure.
