FORT WAYNE - A driver who was thrown from her car and hit by another car early Sunday morning has been identified.

The Allen County Cornered released the identity of Marissa Jo Branning, 25, of Fort Wayne on Monday, October 2.

Reports state at around 3 a.m. on October 1, emergency responders were called to an accident near mile-marker 312 on northbound Interstate 69 near the Coldwater Road exit.

Branning was driving at a high rate of speed neat the exit when for an unknown reason her car left the road, went over a guardrail and continues down into an embankment.

During the accident Branning was thrown from her vehicle and onto northbound I-69 and was hit by an oncoming car.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The coroner ruled her cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries, and determined her death was an accident.
