(INDIANAPOLIS) – Indiana saw no change in their unemployment from December to January.
According to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, the unemployment rate stayed the same from December to January at 4.4%. By comparison, the National unemployment rate for January was 4%.
In addition, Indiana’s labor force participation rate is 63.8% for January, compared to the national rate of 62.6%. This rate is the percentage of Hoosiers 16 and older that are either working or actively looking for work. Indiana’s total labor force stands at 3,485,632 and is at its highest on record.
January 2025 total private employment is 2,831,900 a decrease of 2,300 from the previous month and 570,500 above the April 2020 Trough.
Industries that experienced job increases in January included: Professional & Business Services (+3,000) and Manufacturing (+2,900).
