Angola Fire Department Battles House Fire Early Monday Morning

(ANGOLA) - Angola Firefighters were dispatched to a house fire at 3:40 a.m. on Monday at 615 S. West Street. Angola Fire Chief Bill Harter reports flames were visible and family members were evacuating the house when firefighters arrived on scene. The homeowner and his son were transported to Cameron Hospital by Steuben County EMS for treatment of burns and smoke inhalation. Firefighters had the blaze under control in just over an hour. The fire caused an estimated $280,000 in damages and losses. Assisting at the scene were crews from Ashley, Steuben Township, Metz, Hamilton, and Orland Fire Departments and officers from the Angola Police and the Steuben County Sheriff's Department. NIPSCO crew members also responded to the scene. Waterloo Fire Department assisted on standby.
