(AUBURN) - A former DeKalb County sheriff's deputy will not serve additional jail time after pleading guilty to felony sexual battery, according to the Herald Republican.
Zachary W. Kerley, 30, pleaded guilty to a Level 6 felony under a plea agreement that resulted in a one-year sentence with all but eight days suspended and credited as time served. The remaining sentence was suspended to probation, which includes adult sex offender conditions and a no-contact order with the victim.
Kerley had originally faced a rape charge and multiple felony counts, which were dismissed as part of the plea agreement. He was serving as a school resource officer at the time of the offense and was terminated from the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office following the investigation.
