(LANSING) - A Bronson man is facing felony charges after allegedly making a threatening phone call to the Michigan State Capitol.
According to the Michigan Attorney General's Office, 50-year-old Gabriel Hetrick of Bronson called the Capitol on Sept. 17, 2025, to ask about tour availability. During the call, he allegedly stated he was "going to start hunting Republicans," authorities said.
Hetrick has been charged with making a terroristic threat, a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison, as well as one misdemeanor count of malicious use of a telecommunications service.
He appeared Thursday for a probable cause conference in Lansing's 54-A District Court before Judge Cynthia Ward. Court records indicate Hetrick has pleaded not guilty.
Attorney General Dana Nessel said threats against elected officials are taken seriously because they can interfere with the ability of public servants to perform their duties safely.
A preliminary examination to determine whether the case will proceed to trial is scheduled for Feb. 19.
