(HUNTINGTON) - Fremont's girls basketball team delivered a historic performance Saturday, capturing the program's first semi-state championship and earning a trip to the Class 1A state finals.

The Eagles dominated both of their games at Huntington North, defeating Monroe Central 63-47 before closing the night with a 55-33 victory over Elkhart Christian Academy in the championship. Grace Scharlach led Fremont with 29 points in the afternoon win, while Mya Turner powered the title game with 21 points.

Fremont will face No. 2 Borden next weekend at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for the Class 1A state championship.

Two other northeast Indiana teams also punched their tickets to the finals. In Class 4A, Norwell -- competing at the state's top level for the first time -- beat Crown Point and McCutcheon to advance and will meet Center Grove for the title. In Class 3A, Bellmont claimed its first semi-state crown with wins over Culver Academies and Connersville and will play Roncalli for the championship.

All three teams will compete for state titles next Saturday in Indianapolis.
