(AUBURN) - Tickets are now available for the 20th annual Power of the Purse fundraiser hosted by United Way of DeKalb County.

This year's milestone event, themed "POP Derby: Off to the Races -- Celebrating 20 Years of Power, 65 Years of Impact," will be held Friday, April 24, at the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum. Doors open at 11 a.m., with the program beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Power of the Purse is the organization's signature fundraising event, bringing community members together to support programs that strengthen families, expand opportunities for youth, improve financial security, and build community resilience across DeKalb County.

Executive Director Tyler Cleverly said the event highlights the strength of the community and the impact of collective giving, noting this year's celebration also marks United Way of DeKalb County's 65th anniversary.

Proceeds will support the organization's four focus areas: healthy community, youth opportunity, financial security, and community resiliency. Organizers say this year's event will include additional tables and a larger selection of handbags for the popular "pack-a-purse" raffle, in which donated purses are filled with themed items from local partners.

Attendees will enjoy a luncheon, an inspirational program, and raffle opportunities. Officials say every ticket and raffle entry supports programs that provide measurable benefits to residents throughout the county.

Tickets can be purchased in person at the United Way of DeKalb County office at 950 West 15th Street in Auburn or online at unitedwaydekalb.org/power-purse. Cash, check, and credit cards are accepted. Tickets are limited and expected to sell quickly.

Organizers are also seeking event sponsors and purse donations to expand the celebration. For more information, to donate, or to become a sponsor, contact the United Way office at 260-927-0995, extension 1, or visit the organization's website.
