(ANGOLA) - Fort Wayne Medical Oncology and Hematology is expanding cancer care services in partnership with Cameron Health to increase access to treatment for patients in Angola and the surrounding region.

Officials say the expansion is aimed at addressing growing cancer care needs in Steuben County and building on a partnership between the two organizations that began in 2001.

Through the collaboration, Fort Wayne Medical Oncology and Hematology is increasing both the scope of services and the number of days specialists are available at Cameron Health.

Patients will have expanded access to medical oncology, hematology, infusion therapy, and supportive care services, including palliative care.

As part of the project, the Regional Cancer Care Center of Angola on the Cameron Health campus has undergone a full interior renovation.

Improvements include an expanded lobby, a new registration and customer service area, five exam rooms, a private physician office, and 12 infusion bays supported by a nurses' station, nourishment area, and medication preparation space.

Additional renovations were also completed on the opposite side of the building to support the recent installation of a new linear accelerator used in cancer treatment.
