(BERNE) - A Berne man is facing multiple felony child molestation charges following a months-long investigation by local authorities.
The Adams County Sheriff's Office says 74-year-old David Wickey was arrested Tuesday morning after detectives assisted Berne Police in serving a felony arrest warrant at a home in Berne.
Wickey is charged with four counts of child molestation as Level 1 felonies, one count of child molestation as a Level 4 felony and two counts of battery resulting in bodily injury as Level 5 felonies.
Investigators say the case began in June 2025 after a report of alleged sexual abuse involving children. Detectives interviewed multiple children and adults during the investigation and also served a search warrant at a home on West 400 South in Berne.
The findings were turned over to the Adams County Prosecutor's Office for review.
Authorities say several agencies assisted in the investigation, including the Indiana Department of Child Services, the Muncie Child Advocacy Center, Berne Police, Decatur Police and the Henry County Sheriff's Office.
