(CHICAGO) - Indiana ranks sixth in the nation for fast food access, according to a new study conducted for Seating Masters.

The study analyzed 22 major fast food chains and compared the number of locations to population, measuring restaurants per 100,000 residents.

Indiana recorded 46.37 fast food restaurants per 100,000 people.

Researchers say the most common chains across the state include McDonald's, Dairy Queen, and Burger King.

States like West Virginia, Kentucky, and Kansas ranked higher, while lower-ranking states such as Vermont had far fewer locations per capita.

Analysts say the rankings reflect population density, travel patterns, and consumer demand, particularly across Midwestern and Southern states where fast food access tends to be higher.
