(ANGOLA) - Steuben County voters will get a direct chance to hear from candidates in several of the area's most closely watched local races during tonight's Meet the Candidates Night hosted by the Angola Area Chamber of Commerce at Glendarin Hills Bar & Grill.
Doors open at 5 p.m., with the question-and-answer forum beginning at 6 p.m. in the banquet room. Organizers say light refreshments will be available, and attendees who want dinner can order from a limited menu before the event begins.
Tonight's event will feature candidates in contested races for U.S. Representative, Indiana House Districts 51 and 52, Steuben County prosecutor, sheriff, county surveyor, Pleasant and Salem township trustee, and Fremont Town Council.
The chamber says questions were submitted in advance by members and then narrowed by its issues committee, giving voters a structured opportunity to compare candidates on local priorities before early voting ramps up.
The event flyer lists participation from both the Steuben County Republican Party and Steuben County Democrats.
June Julien, executive director of the Steuben County Tourism Bureau, will moderate the evening.
Unopposed candidates will be introduced but will not participate in the question portion.
For local voters, the event offers one of the best side-by-side opportunities to hear how candidates plan to address law enforcement, township leadership, county government oversight and statehouse representation before ballots are cast.
