(HUNTINGTON) - Governor Mike Braun will be in Huntington tomorrow afternoon for the groundbreaking of Hanjung America's first U.S.-based manufacturing facility.

Braun is scheduled to join Huntington Mayor Richard Strick and company executives at 3 at the Riverfork West Industrial Park on Progress Drive.

Hanjung America announced in February that it plans to build on 133 acres in the park, where the company will manufacture energy storage systems.

The facility is expected to support the supply chain for Stellantis and Samsung SDI's StarPlus Energy electric vehicle battery operations in Kokomo, along with other renewable energy projects across Indiana.

The company, a subsidiary of South Korea-based Hanjung NCS, says it plans to begin operations in June 2027.

Once fully staffed, the Huntington site is expected to employ more than 440 people in the coming years.

The groundbreaking ceremony will be held outdoors under a tent, with on-site parking available.
