Angola Reports Combined Sewer Overflow During Heavy Rains

(ANGOLA) - A combined sewer overflow event was reported Wednesday following heavy rainfall, according to local officials.

The first overflow began around 4:35 a.m. and lasted until 4:58 a.m. A second overflow started at 3:40 p.m. and continued into early Friday.

Wastewater Superintendent Jeffrey Gaff says the event ended at 12:05 a.m. Friday, with a total bypass of more than 1.24 million gallons.

During the storms, the system recorded an average daily flow of 2.422 million gallons, with a peak hourly flow of just over 4.1 million gallons.

Rainfall totals included nearly 1.9 inches Wednesday, with a peak intensity of 1.16 inches per hour.

As of Thursday, the area had received 4.44 inches of rain for the month of April.
