(ALGANSEE TOWNSHIP) - A driver was injured in a single-vehicle crash Monday night in Branch County.
The Branch County Sheriff's Office says deputies were called around 10:19 p.m. to the area of South Ray Quincy Road and Lester Road, where a vehicle had left the roadway and struck a tree.
When deputies arrived, they found a 2019 Kia Sorento on its side, with the driver's side pinned toward the ground.
The driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, told deputies they swerved to avoid a deer while traveling northbound. Authorities say the roadway was wet from heavy rain at the time.
Deputies say the driver was alert but complaining of neck injuries. The vehicle was stabilized until emergency crews arrived, and the driver was then extricated by fire personnel.
The driver was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Quincy Police, Quincy Fire, LifeCare Ambulance, and 911 Towing assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
