(WATERLOO) - Two drivers were hurt in a crash Sunday afternoon at the intersection of County Road 19 and U.S. 6 near Waterloo.
The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office says the crash happened at 1:06 p.m. Sunday.
Investigators say 51-year-old Paul Garvison Jr. of Fort Wayne was driving a 2013 Toyota FJ Cruiser southbound on County Road 19 and stopped at the intersection with U.S. 6. A 2015 Jeep Cherokee driven by 66-year-old David Fivecoate Jr. of Corunna was traveling eastbound on U.S. 6.
According to the sheriff's office, Garvison did not see the Jeep and pulled into the intersection. The Jeep then struck the Toyota on the front passenger side fender.
Investigators say the Toyota spun around and came to rest facing the wrong direction in the eastbound lane of U.S. 6. The Jeep then slid into the yard of a residence south of U.S. 6.
Garvison reported muscle soreness and an abrasion from a seat belt. Fivecoate reported ankle and lower leg pain, a minor head contusion, and muscle soreness. Fivecoate was taken by ambulance to Parkview DeKalb for further examination.
Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $12,000 each.
The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Corunna Fire, Parkview DeKalb EMS, Jeff's Towing, Riverside Towing, and Central Communications.
