(LAGRANGE) - Three local nonprofits serving youth programs and childcare initiatives are receiving support through a new round of grants from the LaGrange County Community Foundation.

The foundation awarded $48,000 in Community Impact Grants during the first cycle of its competitive grant program this spring.

The LaGrange County 4-H Association received $15,000 for renovations to restroom facilities at the county fairgrounds. The funding will help pay for a new water heater, flooring, shower fixtures and baby changing tables.

The largest grant -- $25,000 -- was awarded to the GO Foundation to support the launch of GO Explore Childcare and Preschool at the LaGrange County Innovation Center this fall.

Meanwhile, Rainbow Years Learning Ministry at Shore Church in Shipshewana received $8,000 for equipment for the daycare's large motor room to support active play opportunities for children.

The foundation plans to accept applications again during grant cycles opening June 25 and Sept. 25.
