(DEKALB COUNTY) - Three people were injured Sunday evening in a two-vehicle crash that left a pickup truck overturned in a field east of Auburn.

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 6:58 p.m. to the intersection of County Road 45 and State Road 8.

Investigators say 21-year-old Stone Pixley of New Madrid, Missouri, was driving a 2019 Ford F-150 northbound on County Road 45. Pixley told deputies he stopped at the intersection, looked for traffic and proceeded but did not see an approaching vehicle.

A 1997 Ford Ranger driven by 26-year-old Harmon Grimm of Auburn was traveling on State Road 8 when the vehicles collided.

The impact caused the Ranger to leave the roadway, roll over and come to rest in a field northwest of the intersection.

Grimm reported abdominal pain. Passenger Ashli Bush, 19, of Temperance, Michigan, reported back pain, while passenger Sawyer Maldeney, 23, of Auburn, suffered an abrasion to his right elbow.

All three occupants of the Ranger were transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center for evaluation.

Pixley was not injured.

The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office said alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash. Results of a blood draw are pending and the investigation remains ongoing.
