(COLDWATER) - Despite rainy weather that forced organizers to scale back some activities, this year's John Rohloff-Coldwater Exchange Club Duck Race raised more than $30,000 for local causes.

A total of 4,050 ducks raced down the Sauk River, about 500 more than last year. Organizers also reported a record 139 business and individual sponsors, along with 25 major prize sponsors.

Thunderstorms Saturday morning led to the cancellation of live musical entertainment, and raffle basket bidding was moved indoors to Hope Cafe.

Proceeds from the annual event will support Royal Family Camp, the Branch County Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, and projects sponsored by the Coldwater Exchange Club.

Kristen Griffiths claimed the top prize when her duck crossed the finish line first, earning a $2,026 cash prize donated by Dutcher Funeral Home.

Scott Fair finished second and won a half-ounce 24-karat gold bullion coin. Patty and Randy DeGroot took third place and received a season golf membership at Coldwater Golf Course
