(STURGIS) - Thurston Woods Village says it is prepared to help support workers affected by the planned closure of Sturgis Hospital.
In a statement released this week, the retirement community said it has a long-standing relationship with Sturgis Hospital and has partnered with the facility in providing care to area residents.
Thurston Woods Village said it currently employs more than 200 people serving 270 residents on its Sturgis and Coldwater campuses. The organization said it has job openings in several healthcare and support-service fields, including nursing, certified nursing assistants, rehabilitation services, medication technicians, caregivers, maintenance, housekeeping and culinary services.
Officials said they are hopeful they can provide opportunities for some Sturgis Hospital employees facing uncertainty following the hospital's announcement that it will cease operations.
The retirement community said it remains committed to supporting the Sturgis area as the situation develops.
