UTV Crash In DeKalb County Leaves Driver, Three Juveniles Injured

(AUBURN) - A Waterloo man and three juvenile passengers were injured in a UTV crash Friday night in DeKalb County.

The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office says deputies were called at 8:39 p.m. Friday, July 4, to a wrecked UTV on private property in the 4800 block of C.R. 16.

Investigators say 66-year-old Mark Frey of Waterloo was driving a green Polaris HP 1000 when it went around a corner, lost control, rolled and came to rest in a tree line.

Frey suffered head trauma and lacerations. Deputies say he was unresponsive before being transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center.

Three juveniles were also injured. An 11-year-old girl from Waterloo, suffered a broken arm, a 13-year-old Kendallville girl suffered a concussion, and an 11-year-old girl from Angola suffered minor cuts and bruises. All three were passengers in the UTV.

The sheriff's office says the juveniles were taken to the hospital by their parents.

Damage to the UTV was estimated at $2,000.
