(ANGOLA) - Steuben County Sheriff's Deputy Jordon Trippe has resigned while a special prosecutor reviews an Indiana State Police investigation involving a Steuben County public official.

Sheriff Rodney Robinson accepted Trippe's resignation effective Friday, July 10.

The sheriff's office directed questions about an ongoing investigation and allegations from Trippe's time as a Fremont Police officer to the Fremont Police Department or Indiana State Police.

State police confirmed they investigated a public official in Steuben County and turned the case over to a special prosecutor.

ISP did not identify the person investigated or connect Trippe to the case. State police do not identify suspects in an investigation unless an arrest is made.

Trippe was sworn in as a Steuben County Merit Patrol Deputy in August 2019. He was most recently listed as one of three detectives with the sheriff's office.

No details about the allegations, the investigation or the reason for Trippe's resignation have been released.
