(BUTLER) - Families can pick up free backpacks, school supplies, clothing and other back-to-school help Sunday, July 19th during a community celebration at Maxton Park.
The Back-to-School Bash runs from 2 to 5 p.m. at 695 East Green Street in Butler.
DeKalb County Eastern Community Event organizers will distribute backpacks filled with school supplies to children in kindergarten through 12th grade. Each child must be present, and one backpack will be provided per child while supplies last.
Christ's Church at Butler will offer free bags of clothing for school-age children. One voucher will be available per child, who must be present.
Refuge Church is also organizing a separate giveaway for children in kindergarten through 12th grade. Items from that giveaway can be picked up July 22 and July 25.
Licensed stylists will provide free children's haircuts on a first-come, first-served basis.
The event will also include free face painting, children's games and a bounce house. The Butler Fire Department and local youth sports leagues will be on hand.
Free hot dogs and drinks will be available while supplies last, provided by the Butler Main Street Association, Roots of Giving and the City of Butler.
