(WILLIAMS COUNTY) - A Montpelier man was seriously injured in an early-morning crash involving an Ohio Department of Transportation plow truck.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says the crash happened around 1:50 Sunday morning on State Route 66 near the Defiance-Williams County line in Tiffin Township. Troopers say 47-year-old Scott Burchfield of Montpelier was driving north when his car struck the rear of an ODOT plow truck that was actively treating the roadway. The plow truck had its warning lights activated at the time. After the impact, Burchfield's vehicle left the roadway and caught fire. He was taken by ambulance to Defiance Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. The plow truck driver was not hurt. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor, and the crash remains under investigation.
