(CALHOUN COUNTY, MI) - A fugitive registered sex offender wanted in Steuben County has been captured in southern Michigan. Authorities say 48-year-old Travis Lee Krontz was taken into custody without incident Thursday morning in Calhoun County by the U.S. Marshals Service. Krontz was wanted on a Steuben County warrant charging him with felony failure to register as a sex offender. Investigators say Krontz had allegedly been working in Steuben County for nearly five years without registering, as required by Indiana law. Detectives made contact with him during the investigation, but officials say Krontz then fled the state.

An arrest warrant was issued in early November following a nearly two-month investigation involving sheriff's detectives and the U.S. Marshals Service.

Krontz was booked into the Calhoun County Jail, where he remains held while awaiting extradition back to Steuben County to face charges
