Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck by Three Vehicles in Whitley County

(WHITLEY COUNTY) - Indiana State Police are investigating a crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian Monday evening in Whitley County.

Troopers were called to the scene around 6:45 p.m. on U.S. 24, west of County Road 800 East, for a three-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.

According to the initial investigation by the Indiana State Police Critical Incident Reconstruction Team, a man walked into the roadway for reasons that remain unknown and was struck by three vehicles traveling along U.S. 24.

The pedestrian was identified as 32-year-old Vicente Ramos of Adrian, Michigan. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Whitley County Coroner's Office confirmed his identity and notified his family.

State police say the vehicles involved included a 2020 GMC Terrain, a 2019 Ford Mustang, and a 2015 Ram pickup truck. The drivers of those vehicles were not injured, and no additional injuries were reported.

The crash remains under investigation as troopers continue to collect evidence and determine the circumstances leading up to the incident.

Indiana State Police were assisted at the scene by the Whitley County Sheriff's Department, Jefferson Township Fire Department, Washington Township Fire Department, and Parkview EMS.
