(ANGOLA) - A strong weather system has moved into the region, bringing powerful winds, falling temperatures, likely snow accumulation, and hazardous travel conditions.

Wind gusts are expected to reach up to 60 miles per hour, raising concerns about downed tree limbs and power disruptions. Residents are urged to secure loose outdoor items and use caution while traveling.

Behind the system, much colder air is rushing in. Temperatures are falling into the teens, and strong winds gusting up to 50 miles per hour will make it feel closer to zero. Cold-weather precautions are advised, including limiting time outdoors and dressing in layers.

Slick travel conditions are likely as rain transitions to colder air. Standing water may freeze quickly, creating icy patches on roads and sidewalks. Light snow showers are also possible, with afternoon highs only reaching the mid-20s.

Cold conditions will persist through the end of the year. Highs will remain in the mid-20s to low 30s, with winds easing slightly Tuesday.

A weak system may arrive Wednesday evening, bringing light snow into New Year's Day. Minor accumulation is possible.
