STEUBEN COUNTY - The Steuben County Sheriff's Office wanted to make the public aware of another phone scam going around.
The sheriff's office states the telephone calls are coming from people claiming they are with the sheriff's office. They tell the callers they have warrants, missed jury duty or other unfounded claims and they request money to be paid immediately to resolve the issue.
The department reminded the public that this is a scam. The department will never call people over the phone to take care of any type of payments.
Victims of this scams are asked to not respond to these calls and to not send any money to the scammers.
